Meta Connect 2026 brings $1,299 VR glasses and the Muse Charm as META slips after a 30% month and the 10-year yield tops 5.1%. Key levels to watch for Sept 24.
TLDR
- Meta Connect headlines the day. Meta showed $1,299 VR glasses that weigh about 100 grams, a third-generation Ray-Ban Meta at $449, camera-free Ray-Ban Meta Audio at $349, and the Muse Charm, a keychain-sized AI device arriving in December with no price yet.
- META slipped about 2% after hours following a September run of roughly 30%, its best month since July 2013. The stock closed Wednesday at $744.10.
- Bond yields set the backdrop. A hot September PMI pushed the US 10-year yield above 5.1%, its highest since 2007. The S&P 500 fell 0.75% and the Nasdaq Composite fell 1.13%.
- Asia split this morning. The Nikkei 225 jumped about 1.6% as Tokyo reopened after a three-day break, while Hong Kong and Shanghai slipped ahead of the Trump and Xi summit in Washington.
Market Regime
Two stories are pulling on the same set of stocks. The first is Meta Connect, where Mark Zuckerberg laid out a hardware plan built around Muse, the AI agent that topped the App Store on September 21. That app is the main reason META rose about 30% this month. Connect was the moment the market expected Meta to turn that excitement into products with prices and ship dates, and it delivered on glasses but not on the Charm.
The second story is the bond market. The September PMI showed the US economy running hot, with companies reporting higher costs. Traders now see a better than 73% chance of another Fed hike in October. When the 10-year yield sits above 5%, high-priced growth stocks like META have less room for disappointment. That is the setting for day two of Connect today.

Bullish Factors
- Meta has real products on sale now. Ray-Ban Meta Gen 3 is available from $449 today, and Ray-Ban Meta Audio ships October 13 at $349. These are near-term revenue, not concepts.
- Muse is spreading across Meta’s devices. Meta is bringing the Muse assistant to its full range of glasses and signed shopping partners including Walmart, Sephora, Best Buy and Gap.
- A health angle for smart glasses. An FDA-cleared hearing feature is coming to Meta’s glasses for $149, turning them into something closer to a hearing device.
- Analysts are still positive. Cantor and Mizuho both kept buy ratings ahead of the event, with Cantor arguing Meta has several ways to make Muse profitable.
- Big Tech keeps spending on AI. Microsoft committed $10B to cloud and AI in Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Qatar and the UAE through 2030. Supermicro began shipping NVIDIA Vera Rubin racks.

Bearish Factors
- The Muse Charm has no price or firm date. This was the product most tied to the recent rally, and it arrived without the details investors wanted. The $1,299 VR glasses also do not ship until spring 2027.
- No date for full AR glasses. CTO Andrew Bosworth declined to commit to a 2027 launch for Meta’s true augmented reality glasses.
- Amazon is blocking Muse. Amazon has stopped Meta’s agent from completing purchases on its site, limiting one of Muse’s headline use cases.
- Yields at a 19-year high. The 10-year closed around 5.10% to 5.13% and the 2-year near 4.9%. Higher yields weigh most on expensive tech stocks.
- Oil is climbing again. WTI rose back above $92 and Brent topped $100 on Wednesday, adding to worries that inflation is no longer just an energy story.

Asian Markets This Morning
Tokyo reopened after its Silver Week holidays and the Nikkei 225 rose about 1.6% to around 66,000, catching up with global AI gains from earlier in the week. Chip and AI names led, including Kioxia, SoftBank Group and Ibiden. Japan’s 10-year government bond yield rose to 3.055%, a 30-year high, following the jump in US yields.
China was weaker. Hong Kong’s Hang Seng slipped about 0.75% to near 24,655 and the Shanghai Composite fell about 1% to near 3,900 as investors waited for the Trump and Xi meeting. South Korea’s Kospi was closed for the Chuseok holiday. Ahead of the summit, Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said the two countries agreed to extend their trade truce by two months, to January 10.

What Moved Wall Street Today
US stocks started Wednesday on firm footing after reports that US and Iranian officials had met at the UN, then reversed once the PMI data came out. Manufacturing came in at 57 against 53.7 expected, services at 58.7 against 55.8, and the composite at 58.4 against 55.3, the strongest since July 2021.
The S&P 500 closed down 0.75% at 7,706.03, the Nasdaq Composite fell 1.13% to 26,936.04, one day after a record close, and the Dow lost 352 points to 51,511.59. Decliners outnumbered advancers by more than three to one on the NYSE. NVDA fell more than 2%, ending a six-day winning streak. Energy stocks rose about 1% with oil, while airlines and cruise lines fell on fuel costs.
Options traders stayed busy in the biggest AI names. TSLA led with 2.7 million contracts, followed by NVDA at 2.3 million and META at 1.7 million.

Assets in Focus
META (Meta Platforms)
META closed at $744.10 on Wednesday and slipped about 2% after hours as Connect wrapped its first day. The new Meta VR Glasses move the battery and chip into a separate pocket pack, which brings the weight down to about 100 grams and the price to $1,299, roughly one-third of Apple’s Vision Pro. Meta also launched its own in-house smart glasses from $249 and said Muse is coming to its whole wearable range. Zuckerberg described Muse as the path to what he calls personal superintelligence. The stock has run hard into this event, so today’s developer sessions and any update on the Charm’s price are the next things to watch.
AMZN (Amazon)
Amazon launched always-on AI agents for its third-party sellers. Sellers describe tasks in plain English, and the agent watches pricing, inventory and listings in the background, with approval controls and a record of every action. Amazon also released a Seller Assistant plugin for Amazon Quick and Anthropic’s Claude. The launch lands the same week Amazon blocked Meta’s Muse from buying on its site, a sign that the two companies see AI shopping agents as a real fight.
NVDA (NVIDIA)
NVDA fell more than 2% on Wednesday as yields rose, ending a six-day winning streak. On the supply side, Supermicro has started shipping NVIDIA Vera Rubin NVL72 racks, each with 72 Rubin GPUs, 36 Vera CPUs and 20.7TB of HBM4 memory. Chip exports are also on the table at today’s Trump and Xi meeting, so headlines from Washington can move the stock during the US session.
MU (Micron)
Micron reports fiscal fourth-quarter results on September 30 after the US close, around 1:30 AM IST on October 1. Every Vera Rubin rack carries a large amount of HBM4 memory, which is the high-end chip Micron sells to AI customers. Citi raised its target to $1,300 from $1,150 this month. MU closed Tuesday at $1,096.16 and was the fifth most active options stock on Wednesday with 999,000 contracts.

- S&P 500: 7,695, Wednesday’s low, sits below the close. On the upside, 7,762 was Wednesday’s high and 7,765 was Tuesday’s close.
- NASDAQ: 26,900 is the nearest round number below. 27,244, Tuesday’s record close, is the first level above.
- NIKKEI 225: 65,000 held as the base before the holiday. 66,955, the one-month high, is the next level above.
- META: $721.59, the close after this week’s 8% jump, is the nearest level below. $761, the average analyst target, is the first level above.

Frequently Asked Questions
Q1. What did Meta announce at Connect 2026?
Meta announced $1,299 Meta VR Glasses for spring 2027, Ray-Ban Meta Gen 3 from $449, camera-free Ray-Ban Meta Audio at $349 from October 13, in-house smart glasses from $249, and the Muse Charm, a keychain AI device due in December with no price announced.
Q2. Why did META stock slip after Connect?
META had risen about 30% in September on excitement around Muse. The Muse Charm arrived without a price or firm ship date, and the VR glasses do not ship until 2027, so some traders took profit after hours.
Q3. Why did the US 10-year yield rise above 5.1%?
The September PMI showed much stronger business activity than expected and rising costs for companies. That raised expectations of another Fed hike, pushing the 10-year to its highest level since 2007.
