aPriori’s token APR has more than doubled in a day after the protocol renamed itself Capricorn and said it had bought back 5.3% of its total supply from early investors. APR trades at $0.4844, up more than 96% over 24 hours, with trading volume rising almost 3,800% to $117 million. The tokens have not been destroyed. Capricorn says they will be redirected into community incentives and ecosystem expansion, which means they are earmarked to reach the market again.
APR Price Doubles on the Capricorn Rebrand
APR trades at $0.4844 after swinging between $0.2335 and $0.6212 across the day, giving the Capricorn token a market value near $133 million. Anyone following the APR/USD price chart will see a gain of about 145% over seven days, achieved while the wider market slipped 0.40%, so the move is specific to this project rather than a market-wide rally.

What the aPriori to Capricorn Rebrand Involves
The aPriori protocol has changed its name but not its ticker, so it continues to trade as APR. Capricorn runs a liquid staking service on the Monad blockchain, where users stake MON and receive aprMON in return, letting them earn staking rewards while still being able to use that value elsewhere in DeFi.
Alongside staking, the protocol operates order-flow infrastructure that routes trades and captures maximum extractable value, the profit available from ordering transactions within a block, which it redistributes to stakers and validators. The rebrand does not alter either product, and holders need take no action.
Capricorn Repurchases 5.3% of APR Supply From Early Investors
The company said it had bought back 5.3% of total APR supply from early investors, which works out to roughly 53 million tokens against the fixed one billion cap. At current prices that block is worth around $26 million, though the repurchase price has not been disclosed.
Early backers were allocated 16% of supply at launch, released over three years with a one-year cliff, so the repurchase covers roughly a third of that allocation. Capricorn said the tokens will be redirected to community incentives and ecosystem expansion, increasing what is available to builders, users and partners, and described the buyback as strengthening long-term alignment.
Why the APR Repurchase Is Not a Token Burn
The distinction matters and is easy to blur. A burn sends tokens to an address nobody controls, permanently removing them from existence. A repurchase transfers ownership, so the tokens still exist, and in this case Capricorn has already said what they are for.
Total supply therefore stays at one billion APR. Because the 53 million tokens are earmarked for incentives and ecosystem programmes, they are destined to be handed out rather than locked away, so they will reach the market again as those programmes run. What changes is who receives them and on what timetable, not how many APR exist.

APR Trading Volume Jumps Nearly 3,800%
APR’s trading volume is the clearest measure of how much attention the announcement drew. Turnover reached about $117 million over 24 hours, an increase of roughly 3,760% on the previous day, and close to the token’s entire $133 million market value.
Turnover at that level means the same tokens are changing hands repeatedly within the day rather than being bought and held. It also explains the intraday range, where anyone buying at the high paid more than twice what a buyer at the low paid.
What APR Holders Should Watch Next
The first thing to follow is the pace at which the 53 million tokens are distributed, because incentive programmes release supply gradually and Capricorn has not published a schedule. The second is whether volume holds anywhere near current levels once the announcement fades.
Two pieces of context sit against the rally. APR still trades about 35% below the all-time high of $0.7396 it set in October 2025, and the project has faced scrutiny since launch over on-chain analysis suggesting a single entity used thousands of wallets to claim a majority of its genesis airdrop.

FAQs
1. Why is the APR price rising today?
APR gained more than 96% to $0.4844 after aPriori rebranded to Capricorn and announced it had repurchased 5.3% of total token supply from early investors. Trading volume rose almost 3,800% to around $117 million.
2. Did Capricorn burn the repurchased APR tokens?
No. The APR tokens were bought back from early investors, not destroyed. Total supply remains one billion APR, and Capricorn says they will go towards community incentives and ecosystem expansion rather than being permanently removed.
3. Does the aPriori rebrand affect APR holders?
No, the aPriori rebrand does not affect APR holders. The ticker remains APR and the protocol's liquid staking and order-flow products are unchanged. Only the project name has changed to Capricorn.
4. What does the Capricorn token do?
APR supports liquid staking on the Monad blockchain, where staking MON returns aprMON, alongside infrastructure that routes trades and redistributes the value captured from transaction ordering to stakers and validators.
