Twitter (TWTR) has accepted the $54.20 -a-share buyout offer presented by Tesla CEO Elon Musk. According to the press release, the valuation of the social media company is about $44 billion in cash. After the completion of the deal, Twitter will become a privately held firm.
Elon Musk said in a statement that Free speech serves as the bedrock for any democracy and Twitter is the digital version of Town Square where important matters are debated upon. He wanted to make Twitter a better platform with new features along with making the algorithms open source to enhance trust and defeat spambots.
Bret Taylor the independent board chair of Twitter said that the board considered a comprehensive and thoughtful process to evaluate the proposal with a focus on certainty and financing. According to the members, this is the best path forward for all the stakeholders at Twitter.

Bored Ape Yacht Club’s Instagram compromised in $2.4 million NFT phishing scam
The NFT collection Bored Ape Yacht Club recently was under a phishing attack where the hacker stole nearly $2.5 million worth of NFTs through the official Instagram handle of the club. The hack was disclosed by the company on Monday via a tweet where it warned the followers not to mint new tokens or click on any links.
The hacker behind this attack stole 133 NFTs after it promoted a fake airdrop from the BAYC’s Instagram account. The scam promised people free tokens if they agreed to connect their Metamask wallet to the site linked on the post. It is still unclear as to how the hacker got access to BAYC’s insta handle. The company Yuga Labs is yet to announce whether they will compensate those affected by the scams or not.

Meta will open a physical metaverse themed store in San Francisco Bay Area
Meta, the parent company of Facebook has announced to open a retail store in San Francisco Peninsula to offer hardware sets for the virtual reality space. In an announcement on Monday, Meta declared opening a retail store in Burlingame, California on May 9. The store aims to provide interactive demos for the hardware products built by the company including VR headsets, smart glasses, video communications displays, etc. The store will also feature a wall-to-wall curved LED screen that shall display what the users see while using those Meta headsets.
