The introduction of sub-accounts allows institutions to collectively generate more profits using corporate trading strategies.

Why Are Sub-Accounts Important in Crypto API Trading?

Crypto API trading often involves complex strategies, multiple trading bots, and extensive fund management. Sub-accounts provide several key advantages:

• Better Fund Management – Traders can segregate funds for different strategies, risk levels, or clients.
• Risk Mitigation – Losses from one trading strategy do not impact the entire portfolio.
• Access Control – Institutions or fund managers can grant API access to different teams while maintaining overall control.

Types of Accounts on CoinDCX

There are two types of accounts on CoinDCX:

1. Master Account – Every KYC-verified account holder is a master account holder. Master accounts can create and manage sub-accounts.
2. Sub-Account – These are accounts created by the master account. Sub-accounts allow invited users to trade using the master account’s funds.

Key Features of Master and Sub-Accounts

• The master account has sole control over trading, asset movement, and all deposits/withdrawals.
• Both master and sub-accounts can place orders, but sub-accounts can only cancel their own orders.
• The master account can manage sub-accounts, track balances, transfer funds, and oversee all activities.
• Sub-accounts provide organizations with enhanced control, allowing team leaders or institutional heads to manage trading operations while granting traders individual access.
• The master account can reset 2FA, remove API keys, cancel orders, and freeze specific sub-accounts.

Managing Sub-Accounts on CoinDCX 

CoinDCX’s sub-account feature allows users to create up to 20 sub-accounts under a single master account. There are no fees for fund transfers between sub-accounts or between a master account and its sub-accounts.

CoinDCX prioritizes trust and security by implementing stringent security measures. Login credentials are divided to minimize risk and maximize security.

Moving Funds Between Sub-Accounts Using CoinDCX API

CoinDCX provides an API trading for seamless fund transfers between a master account and its sub-accounts. This feature (Link) is available for accounts with sub-accounts enabled and API keys created after July 31, 2024.

Key Highlights of the Sub-Account Feature:

1. Each master account can create up to 20 sub-accounts.
2. The master account has full management permissions, including freezing/unfreezing sub-accounts, transferring assets, and managing crypto APIs.
3. No fees are charged for asset transfers between master and sub-accounts.
4. Deposit, withdrawal, and API order limits are the same for master and sub-accounts.

How to Enable Sub-Accounts

1. Ensure your KYC verification is complete.
2. Click on the “Create New Sub-Accounts” button.
3. Fill in the required details for the new account.
4. The sub-account user can log in using the credentials provided during setup.
5. The master account can track portfolio balances and control fund movements.

Security Update: 2-Factor Authentication (2FA)

Starting from June 29, 2020, at 8:00 PM (IST), 2FA is mandatory for all sub-accounts. This enhances security and prevents unauthorized access. You can enable 2FA using:

1. SMS-Based 2FA – Receive a one-time password via SMS.
2. Authenticator App – Use a trusted app like Google Authenticator.
