Rocket Pool was designed by David Rugendyk in 2016. The platform is managed by Darren Langley who has over 18 years of experience in e-commerce and application architecture development. The platform is backed by ConsenSys ana KR1.
HOW DOES ROCKET POOL WORK?
The pools manage two tokens – Rocket Pool token (RPL) and rETH – tokenized Ethereum. Users deposit Ethereum into Rocket Pool smart contract which further manages and operates staking ETH onto Beacon chain – the blockchain that was merged with Ethereum blockchain to move from Proof of Work consensus mechanism to Proof of Stake mechanism. rETH insures stakers on the platform from slashing (slashing is a penalty charged in case of any misconduct done on the ETH2.0 chain)
WHAT MAKES ROCKET POOL UNIQUE USE CASES?
Tokenized ETH: users who stake their ETH funds on the platform receive rETH which allows them to accrue staking rewards. The staking rewards also depend on the performance of the node operators.
Staking-as-a-service: Rocket Pool works as a staking as a service platform allowing everyone to participate in the liquidity pool. An individual can stake from a minimum of 0.1 ETH to 32 ETH.
Node staking: users can stake 16 ETH through a node and receive another 16 ETH required to stake on the beacon chain. These are minipools on the protocol.
