BNY Mellon to Custody Assets Backing Circle’s USDC Stablecoin
Circle Internet Financial, the issuer of USDC stablecoin, announced on Thursday that BNY Melon, one of the oldest U.S. banks and one of the first to lean into custodying digital assets, will be serving as the “primary custodian” for the reserve assets behind the USDC stablecoin.
The popular go-between for crypto traders keeps its dollar peg with a mix of cash, cash equivalents, and U.S. Treasuries. According to Circle’s website, there are just under 52 billion USDC in circulation as of the present time. USDC is the second-largest stablecoin by issuance size, behind Tether’s US1dt.

Binance Is Sponsoring the Grammys This Year
Binance announced in a press release on Thursday that it is “the first-ever official cryptocurrency exchange partner” of the Recording Academy, the organizer of the annual Grammy Awards. They also mentioned that the partnership with the Recording Academy could extend beyond just a branding opportunity. That being said, the crypto exchange did not hold back from mentioning that some Web 3 initiatives with the Recording Academy are also in the works.

Twitch Co-Founder’s Gaming NFT Marketplace Raises $35M
Fractal, the platform for game-related non-fungible tokens (NFT), founded by Twitch’s co-founder Justin Kan, has raised $35 million in a seed round led by Paradigm and Multicoin Capital. Other investors include Andreessen Horowitz (a16z), Solana Labs, Animoca Brands, Coinbase Ventures, and Terraform Labs CEO Do Kwon, among others.
The platform functions as a marketplace for players to buy Solana-based NFTs directly from game companies as well as a secondary marketplace for peer-to-peer trading.
