AI and its applications for the various sectors of the world have gained an enormous momentum following the OpenAI’s ChatGPT launch! Artificial Intelligence has been an exciting new realm ever since it has been presented to the world, but its applications are slowly working its way towards solving real world problems. The recent being Code Reader, launched by Etherscan, the Ethereum block explorer and analytics platform.

The new tool, which has been named “Code Reader”, makes use of artificial intelligence in order to access and understand the source code of a specific contract address. Once the user inputs a prompt, the Code Reader will be generating a response by making use of OpenAI’s large language model. This will then help in providing insight into the source code files of the contract or the contracts. As per the tutorial’s page of Code Reader, “To use the tool, you need a valid OpenAI API Key and sufficient OpenAI usage limits. This tool does not store your API keys.”

The use cases of this AI from Etherscan will include obtaining a deeper insight into the contracts’ code through AI-generated explanations. This, in turn, will be able to help with comprehensive lists of smart contract functions which are related to help with the Ethereum data while also understanding how the underlying contract interacts with decentralized applications or dApps. For this, the tutorial page of Code Reader also mentioned, “Once the contract files are retrieved, you can choose a specific source code file to read through. Additionally, you may modify the source code directly inside the UI before sharing it with the AI.”
With the recent boom in AI and its use cases, Singaporean venture capital firm Foresight Ventures released a research paper that commented, “Computing power resources will be the next big battlefield for the coming decade.” With OpenAI and the others, it is going to be an interesting segment to see unfold!
