Shiba Inu ecosystem lead developer, Kaal Dhairya, has finally spoken 8 days after the $4 million hack! This Shiba Inu Kaal Dhairya news comes as SHIB trades at volatile levels, with investors closely tracking Shiba Inu price INR movements on exchanges. Dhairya, has finally spoken 8 days after the $4 million hack! He called it “serious” while also stressing that the immediate damage had been contained.
Could the Damage Have Been Worse? Nods Dhairya!
In a blog post, Dhairya confirmed that the breach on the Shiba Inu Layer 2 network led to losses of around $4 million across 17 different cryptos, including $1 million in Ethereum (ETH/USD), $1.3 million in SHIB, and smaller amounts of USDC (USDC/USD), Tether (USDT/USD), and Shiba Inu Treat (TREAT).
The attacker managed to gain temporary validator voting power, a two-thirds majority, which allowed malicious software to be pushed onto Shibarium. Dhairya said that although the incident was severe, further losses were prevented.
“This is a serious incident. We’ve contained the immediate damage (it could have been worse) and are working with independent specialists and authorities,” Dhairya wrote.
Bridge Operations Restricted
The developer noted that bridge operations on Shibarium remain suspended while additional safeguards have been introduced for deposits, withdrawals, claims, and rewards. Bone ShibaSwap tokens used for validator voting power have also been recovered and secured.
Evidence pointed to a key compromise across validators. “We agree that this exposes decentralization shortcomings,” Dhairya admitted. He further confirmed that, despite decentralization being the goal, other items on the roadmaps were prioritized. No timeline was provided for when bridge operations will resume, with Dhairya emphasizing that safety remains the top priority.
Speculation even extended to listings and partnerships, with community chatter around Shiba Inu Kaal Dhairya Robinhood connections, though Dhairya kept his focus strictly on recovery and safeguards.
Internal Rift?
In a surprising comment, Dhairya distanced himself from claims of being the lead of Shiba Inu. “I am done trying to keep it all together, especially when the so-called ‘leaders’ who benefited from all this get to walk away, or walk away in the name of earning from other places to fix things,” he said.
As reported by CoinDCX, Shytoshi Kusama, the project’s lead ambassador, dismissed speculation of their absence, calling such claims “preposterous,” and confirmed that developers were actively addressing the situation.
Buterin Loses Faith in Memecoins, Prefer Low-Risk DeFi?
Amid the fallout, Ethereum (ETH/USD) co-founder Vitalik Buterin urged the crypto community to look beyond memecoins. He highlighted the importance of low-risk decentralized finance use cases such as payments, savings, and collateralized lending. He termed them “culturally congruent” with Ethereum’s long-term vision.
Conclusion
Despite the setback, crypto investors continue watching the Shiba Inu Kaal Dhairya price narrative unfold, as ecosystem stability and developer clarity could influence sentiment in the coming weeks.
