Review Your CoinDCX Deposit Address: Why It Matters and how to keep it updated
At CoinDCX, keeping your funds safe is our top priority. We have been asking some users to update their saved deposit addresses. This applies if you made a deposit using an old address that no longer shows in the CoinDCX app. Here’s why it matters.
Every crypto transfer starts with a deposit address which is a string of characters. It decides whether your funds get safely deposited in the wallet or not. This post explains what a deposit address is, why it can change, and how to keep yours up to date.
What is a deposit address?
A deposit address is a unique identifier on a blockchain network. Think of it as the account number for a specific coin on a specific network, generated and managed by the platform that holds your funds.
Two details are worth understanding:
- Addresses are network specific. A USDT address on one network is not interchangeable with a USDT address on another. Sending to the wrong network is one of the most common causes of losing ones crypto tokens
- Blockchain transfers are final. Unlike a bank payment, a confirmed on-chain transaction cannot be reversed or recalled by the platform, the sender, or the network.
Why platforms update deposit addresses
Exchanges periodically retire and replace deposit addresses as part of ongoing security and infrastructure improvements. Rotating addresses is a standard practice across the industry. It supports stronger wallet management, reduces long term exposure on legacy infrastructure, and allows platforms to maintain accurate and reliable crediting systems.
Simply put: an address that worked last year may not be the right one today.
What this means for your account
We have been noticing that some CoinDCX users are continuing to make deposits to older addresses which no longer appear on the app or the website.
We want to share that from 1st November 2026, deposits sent to an old CoinDCX deposit address will not be credited to your account. Please also note that recovery for such transfers done by you may not be possible.
The safeguard is simple. Use the addresses currently displayed on the CoinDCX app or website for every transfer. Please replace / update any older address saved in an external wallet or exchange. If you have already updated your saved addresses, no further action is required.
This is especially important for users who have:
- Saved a CoinDCX deposit address in an external wallet or exchange for repeat transfers
- Set up recurring or scheduled transfers to CoinDCX
- Shared their deposit address with an employer, counterparty, or client who sends them crypto
Here is how you can update your saved address:
- Open the CoinDCX app or website.
- Go to Deposit Crypto and select the relevant coin and network. Alternatively, go to Portfolio, tap Funds, and select the coin.
- Copy the current deposit address displayed on the platform.
- Replace the old address saved in your external wallet or exchange.
- Share the updated address with anyone who sends crypto to your CoinDCX account.
Before your next transfer, take two minutes to check that the address you’re sending to matches the one shown in the CoinDCX app today.
