Market Regime
This is an AI money market. In a single session, Anthropic filed to go public, Meta said it would sell up to $95B of stock, and Broadcom lined up a $63B financing vehicle to supply AI chips to Anthropic. Bloomberg counts at least $210B across Monday’s three biggest AI deals. Traders read all of it as proof that AI demand is real, and the companies selling chips into that demand led the rally.
The risk is supply. Every dollar raised in new stock has to come from somewhere, and a wave of IPOs and share sales can pull money away from stocks already trading. The second test lands Wednesday night, when the Fed decides on rates. A hold is expected, but markets are pricing a hike in December, and the 10-year Treasury yield sits near 4.98%.

Bullish Factors
- Anthropic’s first-half revenue of about $16.3B is roughly 14 times the same period a year ago. It now brings in $2.08 of revenue for every $1 it spends on AI compute, up from $0.57 a year ago.
- Chip stocks led the day. Nvidia rose 2.39% to $216.00, Micron 2.98% to $903.70 and Broadcom 2.33%.
- Korea’s economy grew 1.0% in the third quarter against a 0.8% estimate, and the Bank of Korea said chip output will rise next year on demand for HBM memory.
- UPS, Centene and Hilton beat estimates this morning, and UPS raised its full-year sales outlook.
- Global equity funds took in $28.2B in the week to 21 October, a fifth straight week of inflows.
- Iran said it could reopen the Strait of Hormuz within 4 to 5 days if its conditions are met.

Bearish Factors
- New share supply is piling up. Meta’s raise of up to $95B and the Anthropic IPO add a large amount of stock for investors to absorb, and Jim Cramer warned that the wave could drain money from the market.
- The Fed decides at 11:30 PM IST Wednesday. A hold is expected, with a hike priced for December.
- Anthropic’s filing also showed an $80.7B net loss in the first half, mostly non-cash charges, and about 25% of revenue from two customers.
- China is weak. The CSI 300 fell 1.33% on Tuesday and is down more than 20% over four months.
- Retail options trading reached 61% of volume on Citadel’s platform, close to a record.

Asian Markets This Morning
Korea and Japan picked up where Wall Street’s chip rally left off. KOSPI jumped 3.09% to 5,638 and the Nikkei 225 rose 1.73% to 63,268 on Tuesday.
- SK Hynix rose about 5.2% to 1,341,000 won in Seoul ahead of its results, and Samsung Electronics gained about 4.2%.
- Bloomberg reported over the weekend that SK Hynix plans a special dividend of about $12B from its Kioxia stake sale.
- Korea’s stronger GDP print added to the buying in chip names.
- China went the other way. The CSI 300 slipped 1.33%, extending a slide of more than 20% over four months.
