Nvidia reports Wednesday after US close on a seven-day slide. Kospi slipped below 6,500 as Samsung and SK Hynix each fell 4%. Options price a 7.2% move.

            TLDR

Nvidia reports Wednesday after US close, numbers around 2:00 AM IST Thursday and the call at 2:30 AM IST. Options price a 7.2% move on the biggest single-stock weight in a US index since 1974. Positioning is not calm. NVDA closed Monday at $209.81, its seventh straight down day and first such streak since September 2022. The Philadelphia Semiconductor Index crossed into bear-market territory. Kospi slipped below 6,500 this morning as Samsung and SK Hynix each fell about 4%. Nikkei broke 65,000. The final positioning day is running hot.

            Market Regime

Wall Street closed mixed Monday. S&P 500 down 0.28% at 7,652.86, Nasdaq down 0.76% at 25,980.19, Dow up 0.26% at 53,417.16 on rotation into industrials. The chip complex sold hard: Micron -5.8%, SanDisk -6.5%, AMD -3%+, Broadcom -2%+, and the SOX index dropped 3.6% into bear-market territory.

Two catalysts drove the selling. A weekend report that Nvidia plans to raise prices on some AI servers pressured memory and hyperscaler names, and Treasury Secretary Bessent announced Operation Economic Outcast, a widened sanctions regime on Iran, which kept Brent above $90. Yields cooled after CNBC reported the Treasury may use the General Account to fund a debt buyback. Wednesday’s Nvidia print is the fulcrum: 7.2% implied move, priced range roughly $200 to $230, and every correlated name on the CoinDCX Global Futures trending list moves off Jensen’s guide.

            Bullish Factors

            • Uniform Wall Street bullishness. Rosenblatt Buy $325, KeyBanc Buy $330, 58 of 61 analysts at Buy or Strong Buy, average PT $302-304, high $500. Nobody wants to be short into the print.
            • Nebius (NBIS) closed a $5.75 billion convertible on Monday, one of the largest AI-infra raises on record. NBIS is up 77% over the last month. That dry powder is a direct forward-demand signal for Nvidia GPU orders.
            • Amazon’s Project Tetromino, reported by Business Insider, brings AI and robotics to fully automated last-mile warehouses. Amazon is one of Nvidia’s largest customers, so any Tetromino ramp flows into hyperscaler capex and NVDA guidance.
            • The Nvidia-SpaceX Vera Rubin NVL72 announcement Monday validates the architecture rollout timing the earnings call is expected to detail. SpaceX co-designed a space-optimized system for orbital data centers, launches targeted by end of 2027.

            Bearish Factors

            • NVDA is on a seventh straight down day, off roughly 7% during the stretch. A tape that will not rally on the $500B financing platform, $105B OpenAI backstop, or $6B Poolside deal is telling that positioning is heavy and the bar keeps rising.
            • Samsung fell 8.7% Monday despite Friday’s 80-110 trillion won shareholder-return plan, because only $21B in dividends and $10B in buybacks were near-term. Read for Jensen: markets want numbers landing this quarter, not commitments for 2027 or 2032.
            • Concentration risk is enormous. NVDA is 8% of the S&P 500 and 14% of the Nasdaq 100, the biggest single-stock weight in any US index since 1974. On direct math, a 7% NVDA move pulls the S&P by roughly 0.5% before any correlated selling.
            • Sell-side questions on the call will hammer the counterparty-risk architecture built through August. If Jensen cannot cleanly articulate the credit exposure across SPCX, Intel, OpenAI Ohio, and the $500B platform, the stock reprices.
            • SOX crossed into bear-market territory Monday. Chip breadth is thin. The sector is being treated as risk-off before Wednesday’s print.

            Asian Markets This Morning

Kospi opened at 6,535.93, down 2.40%, and slipped below 6,500 shortly after the open. Mid-session it was trading around 6,491, down 3.08%. Samsung and SK Hynix each fell about 4% at the open. Two drivers: the US chip selloff spillover, and a Chosun report that US officials are pushing Korean chipmakers to increase American semiconductor investment. Kosdaq opened at 806.93, down 0.79%.

Nikkei 225 fell 1.04% to 64,848.36, breaking the 65,000 level. Kioxia and SoftBank both traded weaker, Kioxia extending Monday’s 7.7% drop. An intraday yen rebound pressured Japanese exporters. Both Kospi and Nikkei are trading NVDA as if the print has already gone wrong, which sets up a strong reversal Thursday morning IST if Jensen beats and guides up.

            What Moved Wall Street Today

            • Semiconductors dominated the tape. Micron -5.8% to about $910, SanDisk -6.5%, AMD -3%+ to $456, Broadcom -2%+. SOX -3.6% into bear-market territory.
            • Nvidia closed at $209.81, down 2.3%, on a seventh consecutive down day. First 7-day losing streak since September 2022.
            • Bessent’s Operation Economic Outcast added a fresh sanctions leg against Iran. Brent held above $90.
            • Yields cooled after CNBC reported Treasury may use the General Account to fund a debt buyback.
            • Dow +0.26% at 53,417.16 was the only major green print, on rotation into industrials and defensives.
            • SPCX rose on Musk’s Vera Rubin NVL72 post confirming the Nvidia-SpaceX orbital data center partnership.

            Assets in Focus

            NVDA

Monday close $209.81, down 2.3%, seventh straight down day. Reports Wednesday Aug 26 after US close. Written commentary from CFO Colette Kress around 1:20 AM IST, release ~2:00 AM IST, call at 2:30 AM IST Thursday, transcript by 3:15 AM IST. Consensus revenue around $93.5B against the $91B May guide, GM target near 75%. Options price a 7.2% move ($200 to $230 implied range). Five things to watch: data center revenue and HBM demand color, Vera Rubin rollout timing, how Jensen frames the $500B financing platform deployment pace, any specific comment on the $21B SPCX and $22B Intel stakes, and China revenue mix given Poolside and Nemotron. Beats for 14 consecutive quarters, but the stock has fallen after 6 of the last 8 reports. Reaction matters more than direction.

            SPCX

Monday’s Nvidia-SpaceX Vera Rubin NVL72 announcement is the fresh catalyst. Musk shared Nvidia’s post on X confirming a space-optimized NVL72 system for orbital data centers, launches targeted by end of 2027. Yahoo Finance also reported Trump personally invested up to $50,000 in SpaceX in June, following last week’s space directive. Nvidia’s 13F showed a $21 billion SPCX position, its second-largest holding. Any Jensen comment on the SPCX stake or Vera Rubin timeline Wednesday is an immediate SPCX catalyst.

            AMZN

Project Tetromino puts AI and robotics into fully automated last-mile warehouses. Amazon is one of Nvidia’s largest customers, so Tetromino capex signals flow into NVDA guidance. AMZN sits just under all-time high territory. Any Jensen comment on hyperscaler bookings pull-through pulls AMZN with it.

            NSDQ100

Closed Monday at 25,980.19, down 0.76%. Nvidia carries roughly 14% of the index. A 7% NVDA move on Wednesday moves NSDQ100 by roughly 1% on direct math, before correlated selling in AMD, Micron, or Marvell. The index is trading as if the print has already gone poorly, and downside protection is heavy into Wednesday close. The cleanest way to express a Nvidia view without single-name risk.

            Index Levels to Watch

            • NVDA. Post-earnings implied range roughly $200 to $230 on 7.2% expected move. Reference supports at $210, $200, $185. Reference resistance at $225, $232, $250 (Street average PT), and $325 (Rosenblatt PT).
            • SPCX. Reference supports at $140 and $135. Reference resistance at $155, $160, and the $210 UBS target.
            • AMZN. Reference supports at $215 and $205. Reference resistance at $235, $245, and the $255 all-time high area.
            • NSDQ100. Closed 25,980.19. Watch 25,700 on downside if Nvidia disappoints and 26,300 to reclaim structure if Nvidia beats and guides up.

            Frequently Asked Questions

Q1. When does Nvidia report and what time is that in IST?

Nvidia reports Q2 fiscal 2027 on Wednesday Aug 26 after US market close. CFO Colette Kress's written commentary typically drops around 1:20 AM IST Thursday, the earnings release at ~2:00 AM IST, and the conference call at 2:30 AM IST Thursday Aug 27. Transcript is usually available by 3:15 AM IST.

Q2. What is the options-implied move on NVDA for Wednesday's print?

Around 7.2%. On the $209.81 Monday close, the priced range sits roughly $200 to $230. A move outside that band is where the tape reprices meaningfully. Nvidia has beaten estimates for 14 consecutive quarters, but the stock has fallen after 6 of the last 8 reports.

Q3. Why did Kospi drop more than 3% on Tuesday morning?

Two reasons. The US chip selloff on Monday, where Micron fell 5.8% and SanDisk fell 6.5%, spilled into Asia at the open. And a Chosun report that US officials are pushing Korean chipmakers to increase American investment added a domestic negative. Samsung and SK Hynix each fell about 4%, and the index slipped below 6,500.

Q4. Why is Nvidia down for seven straight sessions if the news has been positive?

Every August catalyst has been career-defining on its own, from the $500B Wall Street financing platform to the $105B OpenAI Ohio backstop. But the tape is telling that positioning was already crowded and the bar keeps rising. Samsung fell 8.7% Monday despite an 80-110 trillion won shareholder-return plan because only a fraction was committed near-term. Markets want numbers landing this quarter, not commitments for 2027 or 2032.
