Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang says AGI has arrived after OpenAI’s GPT-6 Astra trained on 100K+ Grace Blackwell GPUs. Nikkei +2.12%, KOSPI +3.5% on the AI read.

            TLDR

Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang posted “AGI has arrived” on X Sunday, crediting OpenAI’s new GPT-6 Astra model trained on more than 100,000 Grace Blackwell NVLink72 GPUs. Huang said 400,000 more Nvidia GPUs are coming online next. Asia priced the read directly Monday: Nikkei 225 closed up 2.12% at 66,399 on gains in SoftBank, Kioxia, Advantest and Tokyo Electron. KOSPI closed up 3.5% at 6,921 led by Samsung and SK Hynix. NVDA is the direct beneficiary. Memory is the second-derivative, and SanDisk joins the S&P 100 on September 21 alongside Dell, Palo Alto Networks and Arista.

            Market Regime

The tape is being carried by a single-thread AI narrative: Jensen calling AGI at the top of the compute cycle. That framing puts NVDA at the center, memory as the direct second-derivative through Kioxia, SK Hynix and Samsung, and the pre-IPO stack (SPCX in particular) as downstream on the compute buildout. Asia already leaned in Monday morning.

What could break the setup: a hot August CPI print on Friday would revive September FOMC hike odds and reprice the whole tech complex; the AGI claim itself is contested, with Gary Marcus and others quick to push back; and September has averaged a 2.7% drop for the S&P 500 over the last five years. Crude oil grinding higher into a CPI week adds an inflation input the market has to absorb.

            Bullish Factors

            • Jensen calling AGI is the single-biggest single-tweet catalyst for AI equities of 2026, wrapping NVDA’s 400,000 GPU pipeline in a demand story
            • Asia carried the tape on the Astra read: Nikkei 225 up 2.12%, KOSPI up 3.5%
            • SoftBank Group, the Nikkei’s OpenAI proxy with more than $30B invested, was among the biggest single-name gainers
            • Memory supercycle stays intact: SanDisk closed Friday up 11.9% at $1,740, Bernstein $3,000 price target, joining the S&P 100 on September 21
            • Passive S&P 100 flow starts now: DELL, SNDK, PANW and ANET must be built by index-tracking funds before the September 21 open
            • Astra is state-of-the-art on FrontierMath Tier 4, ARC-AGI 3 and TerminalBench-4.0, designed for computer use, software engineering, cybersecurity and science

            Bearish Factors

            • September has averaged a 2.7% drop for the S&P 500 over the last five years
            • Strong August jobs data revived Fed hike debate ahead of the September 16-17 FOMC meeting
            • VIX rose 3.44% on Friday, signaling rising hedging demand into the week
            • Crude oil around $91-92 adds an inflation input just before Friday’s August CPI print
            • Nike’s 80% collapse from its record and S&P 100 ejection is a warning on consumer names being rotated out
            • The AGI claim is contested: Gary Marcus and other researchers argue the term lacks a clear definition or a technical result

            Asian Markets This Morning

Nikkei 225 closed up 2.12% at 66,399, a 1,378-point rally on AI and semiconductor gains. SoftBank Group led on its OpenAI exposure. Kioxia, Advantest, Tokyo Electron and Fujikura all posted strong gains. KOSPI closed up 3.5% at 6,921, driven by Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix. The yen sat around 156 to the dollar. The Bank of Japan meets September 17-18 with a rate hike to 1.25% almost fully priced in.

            What Moved Wall Street Today

In Friday’s session, the S&P 500 closed at 7,718.60, down 0.38%. Nasdaq closed at 26,506.99, down 0.29%. Dow Jones Industrial Average closed at 53,414.25, down 0.51%. Russell 2000 closed at 2,975.65, up 0.25%. VIX closed at 15.03, up 3.44%. Gold closed at $4,476.60, down 1.39%. Crude oil closed at $91.48, up 0.20%. SanDisk closed up 11.9% at $1,740 on the S&P 100 inclusion news. NVDA closed around $230, according to Public.com’s 10-year benchmark showing +15,381% over the decade.

            Assets in Focus

            NVDA

Jensen Huang posted “AGI has arrived” on X Sunday, crediting OpenAI’s GPT-6 Astra model launched Friday. Astra was trained on more than 100,000 Grace Blackwell NVLink72 GPUs. Huang said 400,000 more Nvidia GPUs are coming online next. The framing: ChatGPT to o1 to Astra in four years. Huang first cited 300,000 GPUs, deleted the post, and reposted at 100,000. NVDA closed Friday around $230. The compute-is-revenue framing Huang laid out on the Q2 FY27 call August 26 gets a direct assist from the AGI declaration.

            DRAM

Memory is the direct second-derivative of a 400,000 GPU pipeline. Kioxia rose in the Tokyo session on the AI compute buildout thesis. SK Hynix helped drive KOSPI up 3.5% to 6,921. Samsung Electronics was among the biggest KOSPI gainers. The DRAM index on CoinDCX Global Futures captures Kioxia and the Korean memory names in one basket. HBM demand at 400,000 GPU scale is a straight-line story.

            SPCX

NVDA holds approximately $21B in SPCX shares, the second-largest position in Nvidia’s investment portfolio. SpaceX is the AI compute era’s launch and connectivity partner, and Starlink is the bandwidth layer for Astra-scale enterprise rollouts. Family offices from Americas, Europe, and the Middle East built a combined $3.8B stake per the August 13F. UBS has a Buy rating with a $210 price target. The second lockup tranche cleared August 20 without a selloff. Pre-IPO trading is available on CoinDCX Global Futures.

            DELL

Dell Technologies joins the S&P 100 on September 21 alongside SanDisk, Palo Alto Networks and Arista. DELL trades on CoinDCX Global Futures. AI server exposure is the direct demand read on a 400,000 GPU pipeline: the hyperscaler build-out that funds Nvidia’s next revenue tier passes through Dell’s server business. Passive S&P 100 flows into all four new names start before the September 21 open.

            SNDK

SanDisk closed Friday up 11.9% at $1,740 on S&P Dow Jones confirming the S&P 100 addition on September 21. SNDK is up 45x in 19 months since its November 2025 IPO and remains the #1 S&P 500 performer year-to-date. Bernstein has a $3,000 price target, roughly 72% above Friday’s close. Management presents at the Citi 2026 Global TMT Conference on Tuesday September 8 and the Goldman Sachs Communacopia + Technology Conference on Wednesday September 9. SNDK is not yet on CoinDCX Global Futures retail, worth flagging for addition given the market-cap trajectory, memory-cycle exposure and its 2026 YTD leadership.

            Index Levels to Watch

On NVDA, $210 is the August swing-low reference and $250 is the AGI headline extension zone. Nasdaq 100 sits with 26,000 as weekly support and 27,000 as the record-high zone. The S&P 500 has 7,700 as short-term support and 7,800 as the resistance to reclaim. The DRAM index has its prior week low as support and the August high as the resistance to reclaim. On SPCX, the $140 zone was the Friday close reference; $130 is the recent swing-low anchor per prior sessions.

            Frequently Asked Questions

Q1. What did Jensen Huang actually claim about AGI?

On September 6, 2026, Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang posted on X: "GPT-6 Astra, trained on ~100K+ NVIDIA Grace Blackwell NVLink72. From ChatGPT to o1 to Astra in 4 years. AGI has arrived. Congratulations OpenAI team. 400K GPUs coming online next." The claim was made as a reply to Crusoe CEO Chase Lochmiller, who had noted that Astra was trained at Crusoe’s Abilene, Texas datacenter. AGI has no universally accepted technical definition, and AI researchers including Gary Marcus have pushed back on the framing.

Q2. Why did Asian markets rally on the AGI news?

The rally was carried by names with direct AI-compute exposure. SoftBank Group has invested more than $30B in OpenAI and holds Arm, so it moved as the Nikkei’s OpenAI proxy. Kioxia is a memory-sector barometer and rose on the 400,000-GPU pipeline demand thesis. SK Hynix drove KOSPI up 3.5% for the same reason. Nikkei 225 closed up 2.12% at 66,399, KOSPI closed up 3.5% at 6,921.

            Q3. What is GPT-6 Astra?

OpenAI’s GPT-6 Astra launched on Friday, September 4, 2026. OpenAI describes it as its most intelligent and aligned model to date, designed for computer browsing, software engineering, mathematics, cybersecurity, science, and professional workflows. It is state-of-the-art on FrontierMath Tier 4, ARC-AGI 3, TerminalBench-4.0, Terminal-Bench Science 0.1, and HealthBench Pro benchmarks. Deployment begins immediately for select organizations and broadens across consumer and enterprise subscription tiers.

            Q4. What is the September 21 S&P 100 rebalance?

S&P Dow Jones Indices confirmed that Dell Technologies, Palo Alto Networks, Arista Networks and SanDisk will join the S&P 100 on September 21, 2026, replacing Nike, Honeywell Aerospace, Simon Property Group and Colgate-Palmolive. All four incoming names are from the information technology sector. Index-tracking funds must build positions in the new names ahead of the effective date, which typically produces passive-flow buying pressure in the days before.

Q5. What are the key macro events this week?

The August CPI print lands on Friday September 11 at 6:00 PM IST. It is the only major US macro print for the week and comes five days before the September 16-17 FOMC meeting. The Bank of Japan meets September 17-18 with a rate hike to 1.25% almost fully priced in. Beyond macro: SanDisk presents at the Citi 2026 Global TMT Conference on Tuesday and Goldman Communacopia on Wednesday, both ahead of the S&P 100 inclusion.
