Though the title of the topic is self explanatory, this read through is my afterthought on the women’s panel discussion that CoinDCX held a while ago. The clichéd adage about successful men having the support of a woman has come a long way of being talked about in equal parts, where the zeal for doing better comes with the support of all loved ones. As we embark upon yet another year where we celebrate women on March 8, 2023, Neeraj Khandelwal, co-founder of CoinDCX, sat with the leaders of crypto within CoinDCX to talk about their journey.
As an organization that has always worked towards creating an environment for its folks to feel at ease and only focuses on giving their best every day, catering towards a balanced workforce has been the aim since inception. As a woman myself, I feel the barriers that surround us as a society are almost unconsciously set in place. However, with the world moving onto a Web3 scenario, where ownership is the main agenda, becoming the flagbearer of a truly modern culture and the ownership of work by individuals is what CoinDCX is all about!
Rajbir Kaur, AVP of HR for CoinDCX that the culture that CoinDCX has been able to build, top down, is phenomenal to see. It is the culture that helps an individual to take their first step in any organization and determine the type of atmosphere that will help them in raising the bar! The main mission of CoinDCX is to simplify people’s understanding of virtual digital asset class. The first step towards that comes with simplifying the workspace for the people to work towards that cumulative goal. That being said, let us start with our sneak peek into the women of CoinDCX, or more simply, the leaders who are heading the mission of the crypto pioneer for India.
One of the most interesting encounters has been with Navneet Khangura, Director of Governance Risk and Compliance, who has spent a whopping 24 years in the working space. Her journey so far consisted of her 22 years of service in the Indian army and the corporate world. According to her, “How competent one is, makes the gender biases agnostic.” I personally feel the statement very deeply, and I can very well say that this has been the driving force behind most of the women leaders I have seen so far.
Coming to the crypto space, the whole segment has not been here long enough for the people to be true experts in it. The sheer driving force of the crypto ecosystem has been the willingness to learn and be open to what the future holds. So if one looks closely, it all boils down to the individual believing in them being competent enough. Back when the Internet was first introduced, considering the possibility of finding answers to everything with one click also seemed foreign; cut to today, when we cannot function without the dependency on the Internet.
When one part has dominance, the other part automatically faces the result. In order to create such a space where there is no disparity, it is necessary to set up a process that generates a similar overview. According to Ambalika Smiti, AVP of Analytics at CoinDCX, such a working environment helps the employees in nurturing the internal self when in doubt.
Now the most interesting part! What made the phenomenal women leaders of CoinDCX join the crypto space from such a variety of domains? Navneet Khangura, Director of Governance Risk and Compliance, taking an active part in the digital transformation of the world, has spearheaded her journey into the world of crypto. For Neha Singh, Director of Public Policy, the shift from a hotel management background has been an amazing ride for her. One piece of advice that she gave while finding the path is to stay away from downplaying oneself. If you are confident, that is all you need.
Neeraj Khandelwal, listening to the conversations said, “Giving it your everything,, is the answer to everything.”
Moving to Ambalika Smiti, AVP of Analytics, and how the field has become her domain. Coming from the agricultural engineering field, mathematics had always been an interest of hers. It was while working with a tech focused NGO that her introduction to Python, SQL, or coding happened. If you keep your horizon open, learning opportunities and the next step in your career is waiting for you to knock. The learning curve at the NGO opened the door to crypto for Ambalika.
Talking about opening doors, Neeraj asked the AVP of HR, Rajbir Kaur, about the corporate curve for women. Being a gatekeeper of the workplace, Rajbir and the HR team are dedicated to providing an open space for all, with the aim of becoming a workplace that thrives on bringing more women leaders forward in the coming days.
While CoinDCX is still in the growing stage, it already caters to a very positive outlook on all things; be it employee benefits or providing the best atmosphere to work in. Interested in checking some of our individual growth stories? Click here to read them.
