Pyth Network posted a 15.21% seven-day advance, trading at $0.08347 on 15 October 2026, showing relative strength despite macro-driven pullbacks across the broader digital asset market. The sustained move preserves gains triggered on 8 October, when the Pyth DAO approved a governance mandate directing 100% of received product revenue toward monthly open-market token repurchases. While this PYTH price surge lifted the token’s market capitalization to $657 million, traders must assess whether current monthly buyback volumes can offset long-term supply dynamics ahead of a 2.125-billion-token vesting cliff scheduled for May 2027.

The DAO Buyback Mechanism
The policy shift was ratified under proposal OP-PIP-136 on 8 October 2026, requiring all product revenue received by the Pyth DAO to fund automatic monthly open-market token repurchases without requiring individual community approval votes. This structural change replaces a previous framework that capped buyback disbursements at one-third of non-PYTH treasury balances.
To prevent disruptive price spikes on spot order books, the Pythian Council executes purchases under programmatic constraints: individual orders cannot exceed $25,000, and execution prices cannot deviate more than 5% from prevailing market quotes. Acquired tokens are transferred directly into the DAO Reserve, which currently holds roughly 42 million PYTH.
Third-Quarter Revenue Growth
Pyth Network ended the third quarter of 2026 with $11.49 million in annual recurring revenue, the yearly income from its ongoing subscriptions. That figure is up 86.5% from the previous quarter, and Pyth Pro, its paid data service for institutions, brought in $9.68 million of it.
The DAO receives about 60% of this revenue, or roughly $575,000 a month, and Douro Labs, the main company building Pyth’s products, keeps the rest. At that pace, the DAO’s buybacks would add up to about $6.9 million a year, close to 1% of PYTH’s market cap.
Price Action Since the Vote
PYTH rose about 15% on October 9, the day after the vote. The PYTH crypto price surge continued October 12, when PYTH gained 16.41% in 24 hours to $0.0898 and led the 89 large tokens tracked by TokenPost. PYTH has since eased back to about $0.083.
The wider market fell over the same period. US consumer prices rose 3.7% in the year to September, above the 3.6% economists expected. The total value of the crypto market then fell 2.2% in 24 hours, according to Benzinga. On October 15, PYTH was one of the few large tokens still trading higher.
What Traders Should Watch Now
PYTH’s next large supply event is a token unlock on May 19, 2027, when about 2.125 billion PYTH, or 21.25% of the maximum supply, is due for release. At current prices, those tokens are worth about $177 million, more than 25 times what the DAO’s buybacks would spend in a year. Of the 10 billion PYTH that can ever exist, 7.87 billion already circulate.
Because the buyback rule ties the DAO’s purchases to revenue, monthly buying grows only as fast as subscription income does. PYTH trading volume over 24 hours stood at $80.8 million, about 12% of its market cap. PYTH remains about 93% below its all-time high of $1.15 from March 2024 and is about 2.8 times its all-time low of $0.02958 from June 2026.

Where PYTH Stands a Week After the Buyback Vote
The PYTH weekly gain stands at 15.21%, and PYTH has held it while the wider market fell after the US inflation data. The DAO now spends about $575,000 a month on PYTH, and the May 2027 unlock of 2.125 billion PYTH is the largest supply event ahead.
