Vitalik Buterin on Ethereum’s ‘The- Merge’ at EHCC Paris
Vitalik Buterin recently addressed the attendees at the annual Ethereum Community Conference (EthCC) in Paris and spoke about the upcoming Merge from Proof-of-Work(PoW) to Proof-of-Stake(PoS). At the developer-focused conference, Vitalik spoke about the short-term and the long-term outcomes of the Merge saying that Ethereum protocol is closer to becoming much more powerful & robust.
He further said that the platform would be able to carry out faster transactions with greater scalability and lower latency, just by increasing the amount of space. After the merger, the platform is expected to undergo a huge transition that the client may not even know that Ethereum worked on Proof-of-Work ever.
Apart from the merge, the Ethereum roadmap consists of ‘Surge’ aiming to make the network more scalable using shrading. However, the protocol is expected to confirm the blocks quickly and register nearly 100K transactions per second post the merger.
“In terms of Overall Ethereum’s network development, the protocol will be 55% complete once we finish the merge. Thus there is much more work for developers ahead,” he added
Elaborating on the upcoming developments, Vitalik said there is a significant change in the monetary policy and the token issuance is well in place, also prioritizing the security and transaction inclusion process. Also the protocol is strongly heading towards the goal of decentralization.
As the decentralized space is customized each day, the pace was lowered but the ultimate goal will be reached which has been looked up by many from a long time.
Vitalik Buterin Explains Steps In RoadMap of Ethereum Merge
The Ethereum Merge where-in the protocol would make a complete shift from Proof-of-Work to Proof-of-Stake is expected to go live very soon. The co-founder, Vitalik Buterin recently addressed the annual EthCC and shed light on the roadmap of the merge.
- The merge is expected to include phases like Surge, Verge, Purge, etc, Surge being the next phase.
- The Surge is believed to enhance the scalability using the sharding technique for the rollips
- Later the Verge phase would deploy the Verkle tree data structure along with the current hexary patricia tree
- The next phase of the Merge would include the Purge where in the old and external histories will be deleted
- The roadmap also include the security features by upgrading with a Single secret leader election (SSLE) having the capacity to withstand any DoS (Denial-of-service) attacks
- On the other hand, the probability of the network integrating a single shot finality also emerged for efficient operations and settlements
