According to a study by Footprint Analytics, there are well over 1400 GameFi projects.
A new era of “X-to-Earn” projects have gained momentum where the ‘X’ means an activity that a user takes and the Earn is the incentive that they receive. The best example is StepN. In the game users need to buy a pair of NFT shoes and indulge in an activity like running or jogging. Similarly, HiveMapper is a token project where drivers who add details to the map by driving get to mine the ‘HONEY’ token. There are several such use cases where a crypto project receives some input from a user in lieu of their tokens.

Andreessen Horowitz debuted in the Web3.0 space with a $600 million fund.
While the crypto market is facing the red, Andreessen Horowitz has jumped in with a huge number to fund web3.0 projects. The VC firm commented that the gaming space has seen a sharp rise owing to Minecraft and Fortnite, which has made them to bet on projects like them. Andreessen Horowitz invested in gaming ventures way before web3.0 arrived. Their first investment was in Zynga Inc back in 2009.
