Ethena traded near $0.1688 on 3 November 2026, marking an 18.8% decline over the trailing seven days and a 9.4% drop over 24 hours as secondary market pricing absorbed the liquidation of hundreds of millions of stolen tokens.

The downturn pushed ENA to a circulating market capitalization of roughly $2.26 billion. The sell-off followed the 29 October breach of cryptocurrency exchange Binance, the largest cybersecurity theft in digital asset history at roughly $6.3 billion, where the attacker liquidated approximately 217.5 million stolen ENA for Ether (ETH). While synthetic dollar USDe preserved its dollar peg via off-exchange reserve custody, secondary token liquidity faces continuing supply headwinds ahead of a scheduled team vesting distribution on 5 November.

The latest leg down came overnight, when ENA lost 7.8% as DeFi tokens fell 3.7%, according to SoSoValue data reported by PANews.

The $34M Liquidation: How the Binance Breach Impacted ENA

The attacker sold about 217.5 million stolen ENA, worth roughly $33.9 million, for ETH at an average price near $0.16, according to on-chain tracker Lookonchain. ENA fell more than 16% in the four hours around the attack, analytics firm Santiment reported, while ETH fell about 4% over the same window. ENA’s four-hour close was its lowest since September 18.

Ethena’s USDe Held Close to Its Dollar Peg

USDe, Ethena’s synthetic dollar, briefly slipped to $0.9974 on October 30 before recovering. Ethena stated that the collateral backing its delta-hedging positions is held with institutional third-party custodians rather than on exchanges, allowing minting and redemption operations to process normally throughout the market volatility.

Ethena-Labeled Wallet Sends 128.63 Million ENA to the Hacked Exchange

On October 31, approximately 128.63 million ENA (valued at roughly $24 million) moved from an Ethena-labeled custody wallet to Binance, according to Lookonchain and on-chain intelligence metrics. That amount corresponds to roughly 59% of the total ENA stolen in the breach.

The exchange said it still holds about $5 billion of the stolen $6.3 billion in the same tokens that were taken, and is buying back the rest on the market and through private deals. Ethena has not explained the transfer.

What ENA Traders Should Watch Next

Ethena’s team is due to receive about 93.75 million ENA on November 5, worth about $15.8 million at today’s price, according to unlock tracker Tokenomist. Trackers disagree on the size of ENA’s November unlock as a whole. One listed about 275 million ENA for November 1, while Tokenomist’s analysis says investor releases ended with a final unlock on October 5.

In September, tokenholders approved a governance “fee switch” allocating 95% of Foundation-collected protocol revenue toward open-market ENA repurchases. However, this buyback mechanism only activates once USDe’s circulating supply hits $7.5 billion; USDe supply stood near $4.66 billion as of late October.

With ENA’s market depth liquidity sitting around 0.16% of its circulating market cap, substantial volume spikes continue to exert outsized pressure on spot prices.

Where Ethena (ENA) Stands After the Breach

ENA currently trades at $0.1688, holding narrowly above the $0.1658 technical support floor identified by analysts following the exploit. While USDe has held firm around its peg, direct buying support from the protocol’s fee switch remains dormant until USDe supply expands to the required $7.5 billion threshold.

            FAQs

            1. Why is Ethena (ENA) down?

Ethena (ENA) fell 18.8% over the past week to trade near $0.1688 after an attacker who stole $6.3 billion from Binance on 29 October dumped roughly 217.5 million stolen ENA ($33.93 million) on decentralized markets, coupled with broad weakness across the decentralized finance sector.

            2. What is Ethena (ENA)?

Ethena (ENA) is the token of Ethena, the protocol that issues USDe, a dollar-pegged token backed by crypto collateral whose price risk is offset with futures positions. ENA holders vote on protocol decisions, including the fee switch that will fund ENA buybacks once USDe supply reaches $7.5 billion.

            3. Did USDe lose its peg after the exchange hack?

No, USDe briefly slipped to $0.9974 on October 30, 2026, after a $6.3 billion theft from a major exchange. Ethena said the collateral it keeps for exchange trading sits with outside custodians and that USDe minting and redemptions kept working.

            4. Is Ethena (ENA) a good investment?

Whether Ethena (ENA) is a good investment depends on a trader’s goals and tolerance for losses, and it is high risk. ENA fell 18.8% in a week after a hacker sold stolen tokens, its liquidity is 0.16% of market cap, and team unlocks continue each month. Its buyback starts only when USDe supply reaches $7.5 billion.
