AltLayer gained roughly 24% over the trailing 24 hours to trade at $0.0123 on 22 October 2026, extending seven-day cumulative returns to 66% as daily turnover significantly exceeded the token’s circulating market valuation. Secondary spot turnover reached $172 million, roughly 1.9 times the project’s $91 million market capitalization, as spot prices briefly pierced $0.015 before settling lower. While the AltLayer (ALT) price surge lifted the token to within 12% of its early-January 2026 peak of $0.014, the advance unfolded without an official project disclosure, arriving three days ahead of a scheduled monthly vesting unlock releasing 240 million tokens on 25 October.
Catalyst Driving ALT Crypto Rally
AltLayer has made no announcement that explains ALT’s 24% gain. The most recent AltLayer updates listed on CoinMarketCap date from August and September, and no listing, partnership or product launch came with the move.
ALT traded near $0.0076 a week earlier and climbed steadily to about $0.0099 by October 21. The jump on October 22 took it to $0.0123, so about half of the weekly AltLayer price increase came in a single day.
AltLayer trading volume reached $172 million over 24 hours, about 1.9 times ALT’s market cap. More ALT changed hands in a single day than the total value of all ALT in circulation.
ALT Tokens Are Still to Be Released
About 7.36 billion of ALT’s 10 billion tokens circulate, which leaves roughly 2.64 billion still to be released. AltLayer releases about 240 million ALT each month, and unlock trackers list the next release around October 25.
That release equals about 3.3% of ALT’s circulating supply and is worth roughly $3 million at $0.0123. It is split among AltLayer’s team, investors, advisors, protocol development, ecosystem fund and treasury.
At $0.0123, all 10 billion ALT would be worth about $123 million, compared with ALT’s market cap of $91 million. The $32 million difference is the value of the tokens still to be released.
What the ALT Rally Means for Traders
CoinMarketCap measures ALT’s ready-to-trade liquidity at just 0.23% of its market cap. At that level, large orders can move ALT’s price sharply in either direction.
Volume of about 1.9 times market cap usually comes from short-term trading, and a rally built on that kind of turnover can reverse quickly once trading slows. CoinDCX covered a similar move earlier this month, when iExec RLC doubled in three days with no news behind it.
The early-January high of about $0.014 is the nearest level above ALT’s current price, and ALT held above it only briefly on October 22. The next monthly release of about 240 million ALT is due three days after the rally.
AltLayer (ALT) Trades Below Its January High With No News Behind It
While AltLayer’s 66% seven-day climb has restored short-term technical momentum, the asset remains roughly 98% below its March 2024 all-time high of $0.6881. With thin order-book liquidity and 24-hour volume running ahead of total market value, maintaining support above $0.011 will depend on whether spot buyers can absorb the 240-million-token unlock on 25 October without breaking key support levels.
