A complete guide to accessing your TDS deduction records on CoinDCX.

Every time you sell or transfer crypto on CoinDCX, 1% TDS is automatically deducted at source. Over a financial year, this can add up to a significant amount — and if your total tax liability is lower than what was deducted, you’re entitled to a refund. Your TDS Summary Report is the document that makes this possible.

What is TDS on crypto, and why does it matter?

Under Section 194S of the Income Tax Act, a Tax Deducted at Source (TDS) of 1% is applied on every sale or transfer of Virtual Digital Assets (VDAs) — including crypto and NFTs — effective July 1, 2022. CoinDCX deducts this automatically on your behalf and deposits it with the Income Tax Department.

Your TDS Summary Report is a consolidated record of all TDS deducted across your trades in a financial year. You’ll need this to file your ITR correctly and to claim a refund if eligible.

Part 1: How to download your TDS summary report

            1) Open the CoinDCX app and tap your profile icon

Launch the app and tap the account profile icon in the top-right corner of the home screen to open your account menu.

            2) Go to Generate Report

In the account menu, scroll to find the Generate Report section and tap it.

            Profile > Generate Report

            3) Choose the TDS Summary

Under Generate Report, tap TDS Summary . This is separate from the Trade Report and Tax certificates — it specifically shows TDS deductions made on your behalf.

            Generate Report > TDS Summary

            4) Choose the financial year

Choose the financial year for which you need the TDS summary — typically FY 2025–26 (April 1, 2025 to March 31, 2026) for the current ITR filing cycle.

            5) View Summary

Tap View Summary to view the file

            6) Cross-check with Form 26AS

Once you have the report, verify the TDS amounts against your Form 26AS on the Income Tax portal. incometax.gov.in›Form 26AS The figures should match — if they don’t, contact CoinDCX support before filing.

Note: TDS deducted by CoinDCX is deposited with the government under your PAN. Make sure your PAN is correctly linked to your CoinDCX account — otherwise TDS may not reflect in your Form 26AS.

            TDS FAQs

            Q1. What is TDS?

Tax Deducted at Source  is a tax deducted at the source of income before the remaining amount is credited to the recipient. In crypto trading, CoinDCX deducts the applicable TDS on eligible transactions and deposits it directly with the Government of India on your behalf.

Q2. What is the TDS rate applicable to crypto trading?

A TDS of 1% is applicable on eligible crypto transactions from 1st July 2022 onwards, as per government regulations.

Q3. Since when has TDS been applicable to crypto trading?

TDS has been applicable to eligible crypto transactions from 1st July 2022.

Q4. Is the TDS rate fixed?

For most users, the standard TDS rate is 1%. However, higher TDS rates may apply in certain cases as per government regulations. Please refer to the section “Why is my TDS rate higher than 1%?” below.

Q5. Is it mandatory to pay TDS?

Yes. As per the Income Tax Act, CoinDCX is required to deduct TDS on eligible transactions. The deducted amount is reflected against your PAN and can be adjusted against your tax liability or claimed as a refund while filing your Income Tax Return (ITR), subject to applicable tax rules.

Q6. Is TDS applicable on every crypto transaction?

TDS applicability depends on the type of transaction:

            • INR Trading Pairs, TDS is applicable on all sell orders in Spot and Insta markets.
            • Crypto-to-Crypto (C2C) Trading Pairs, TDS is applicable on both sides of the trade because one crypto asset is being exchanged for another.

Q7. Where can I view my TDS deductions?

You can view TDS deductions in your order details. On the Order Form, you can click on Info or Fee Breakdown. Review the charges applied to the transaction, including TDS (if applicable).  If you’d like to view a consolidated summary of your TDS deductions, you can download the TDS Summary Report from the Generate Reports section in the CoinDCX App. This report provides a summarized view of the TDS deducted during the selected financial period.

Q8. Who deducts the 1% TDS?

CoinDCX deducts the applicable TDS from eligible transactions and deposits it with the Government of India on your behalf.

Q9. Is TDS applicable on Futures, Options, or Global Futures?

No. TDS is currently not applicable on Futures Trading, Options Trading & Global Futures Trading. This is because these products do not involve direct ownership or transfer of crypto assets.

Q10. Is TDS applicable on SIP purchases?

No. TDS is not applicable when purchasing crypto through SIP installments. However, when you later sell the crypto purchased through SIP, applicable TDS will be deducted on the sale transaction.

Q11. Is TDS applicable on Earn products?

No. TDS is not applicable on Earn subscriptions or redemptions. TDS is only applicable on eligible Spot and Insta trading transactions.

Q12. Is TDS applicable on Crypto Deposits and Withdrawals?

No. TDS is not charged on Crypto Deposits & Crypto Withdrawals

Q13. Why is TDS charged on both sides of Crypto-to-Crypto (C2C) trades?

In a Crypto-to-Crypto trade, one crypto asset is effectively being sold to acquire another crypto asset. Since a sale of crypto occurs during the transaction, TDS becomes applicable on both sides of the trade as per prevailing tax regulations.

Q14. Can I view a summary of all my TDS deductions?

Yes. You can download and review TDS Summary Report & TDS Certificate. These are available on both the CoinDCX App and Website.

            Q15. How is TDS calculated?

For INR Trading Pairs, TDS is calculated at 1% of the sell order value.

            Example:

            • Sell Value = ₹2,000
            • TDS = 1% of ₹2,000
            • TDS Deducted = ₹20

The remaining amount is credited after deducting applicable trading fees, GST, and TDS.

For Crypto-to-Crypto (C2C) Trading Pairs, TDS is calculated on the net transaction value after fees (including GST).

            Example:

            • Trade Value = 10 USDT
            • Fees (including GST) = 1 USDT
            • Net Value = 9 USDT
            • TDS = 1% of 9 USDT
            • TDS Deducted = 0.09 USDT

You can always review the detailed fee and TDS breakdown in the order details section.

Q16. Why is my TDS rate higher than 1%?

While the standard TDS rate is 1%, higher rates may apply under the following circumstances:

A TDS rate of 20% may apply if your PAN is not linked with Aadhaar, as per applicable government guidelines. Please note that it may take a few days for Aadhaar-PAN linking updates to reflect in government records.

            Important Notes

            • TDS is a government-mandated tax and is not a fee charged by CoinDCX.
            • The deducted TDS amount is deposited with the Government of India against your PAN.
            • You may adjust or claim a refund of excess TDS while filing your Income Tax Return – ITR, subject to applicable tax regulations.
            • For tax-related guidance specific to your situation, please consult a Chartered Accountant – CA or tax advisor.

Q17. My TDS amount is not matching. What should I do?

You can verify your TDS deductions by comparing the amounts shown in your Trade Report and TDS Certificate (Form 16A). We recommend reviewing the TDS amounts quarter-wise to identify any discrepancies. If the TDS amount does not match:

            • Check the TDS amount for each quarter in both the Trade Report and TDS Certificate.
            • If you find any mismatch in a particular quarter, please contact our support team and we’ll be happy to assist you.

Q18. What if the amount matches in my TDS Certificate but not on the Income Tax Portal?

If the TDS amount matches in your Trade Report and TDS Certificate but differs from what you see on the Income Tax Portal, there is generally no impact on your ability to claim the TDS. This is because the Income Tax Portal may display the cumulative TDS credited against your PAN for the financial year, which can differ from quarter-wise records. You can continue to file your Income Tax Return – ITR and claim the applicable TDS using your TDS Certificate – Form 16A.

If you still have concerns regarding the discrepancy, please reach out to our support team for further assistance.

Q19. TDS was deducted by CoinDCX, but I cannot see it in my tax records. Why?

TDS credits may take some time to reflect on the Income Tax Portal after being deposited with the government. If the issue persists after the applicable reporting cycle, please contact support for assistance.

Q20. My token was delisted and converted to USDT. Will TDS be deducted?

If a delisted token is converted to USDT as part of the delisting process, applicable TDS may be deducted as per prevailing tax regulations before the proceeds are credited to your account.

Q21. Why was TDS deducted even though I incurred a loss?

TDS is deducted on eligible sell transactions and is not dependent on whether the trade resulted in a profit or loss.

Q22. Can previously deducted 20% TDS be reversed?

TDS deducted and deposited with the tax authorities cannot be reversed by CoinDCX. Users may claim eligible tax credits while filing their Income Tax Return (ITR), subject to applicable tax regulations.
